Yahoo Groups

FYI -- got this from a list member and thought I'd pass it along

Another change they are making may affect Group Members who seldom post messages and/or rarely access the Groups. Yahoo has begun a purge of inactive accounts in all of the Groups Membership ID's. Some of the large groups that have already been affected by this have lost as many as 300 members.

If you are not an active participant in Yahoo Groups and wish to keep your account active it is suggested that you make some attempt to use your ID to keep them from purging it.

Karen have you heard if this means they are purging you from individual groups or can you be active in one group and a lurker in others without getting dumped. I have a couple of groups that I never post to but I like to keep up with what is happening in them and I have others that I post to on a semi-regular basis. Beverly B

Shoot. I go through my groups periodically and do that myself!

As I read it, they are purging those with "unused IDs", so participating in one group should keep you active.

The other list mom and I on a NE group are reading through the current round of "stuff". We don't have a big group, but of 120, plus or minus, only about

10 people post.

We doing a "roll call" just to see who pops up.

We have a similar problem in a professional group. There's close to

1000 people, but only the same half dozen ever post job leads. The rest are apparently there for what they can get without ever sharing a job lead with anyone else.

List Mom doesn't have time to go through and purge, so we're hoping this will get the deadbeats out.

I know I can manually purge hard bouncers myself. We (the list mom is a three way responsibility) also ban people based on spam or deadbeats in trades/swaps..
