Your dream project?

We're beginning to falter again here guys! Time to chime in (I expect this to be busier next week, after the holiday) -

What is the one project you would love to do if you have the time/ skill/money to do?

I love several of the Chatelaine designs and I saw a calla lily in the past couple of days that has me thinking to adapt it to surface work, if I only had the time!

Time money and skill - well, I figure the skill I have, it's the time and money lately. (life is very expensive of late....)

First, learn stumpwork and or drawn thread....

Second, start and finish Flower Power by Crossed Wings...

The Victoria Sampler has a couple of beautiful Christmas designs, and a Harbour village that I love. Those three are on my someday list. But it's not as though I don't have a fairly extensive stash already :)

In the unlikely event that time and space were to materialize in my life, I'd probably be keen to work on some projects of my own. Not likely to happen anytime soon ;-)

I do have a Chatelaine design or two that I'd love to do. I'll be doing another Columbine Designs Proposal Pillow for a wedding next year, though it will take some tweaking as some of the fibers are no longer available. Fortunately, I'm not too worried about substituting as it's a riot of colors anyway, but there's one color of the NN overdyed Rachel that I wish I could still find. It was particularly lovely in the piece, and it wouldn't be all that fun to try to recreate the effect with multiple colors of solid Rachel. And I'm not really in the mood to try to overdye it myself ;-)

Best wishes, Ericka

Have you contacted Threadworx to see if they are doing it? Linda

So far they don't show any Rachel at all on their website. I haven't contacted them to see if they plan to start.

Best wishes, Ericka

Good question - off the top of my head, one of the Mandela Gardens. There are too many others to list - and I just know I'll get to them..... This one is just time & priority.

For the skill azqquisition & time - a serious piece of goldwork, along the lines of the Tanya Berlin Harebell, or Honeysuckle. It'll happen - eventually.

Is the Calla Lily the Merrey Designs one? Sara Leigh (shop owner where I manage, so to speak) had it up during the on-line show, and it's been selling a bit, plus won some ribbons at a couple of recent shows.

Hey - c'mon down. We have someone teaching stumpwork - this summer, and she'll continue again in the fall, I'm sure - also combined with ribbon embroidery in August. And, I think I'm doing a Drawn Thread class in August

- it's a very sweet little sampler from a book on Intro to Drawn Thread .

I thought you already had that going? Ellice

Ah, good choices. Tony was just here last month and taught a project for local ANG chapters . It's really nice. And he's always got great tips.

We're carrying the Threadworx. The cotton is lovely. I'm planning to talk with them at Columbus (TNNA), and will find out what's up. I do really want the dyed metallic, as well - it was gorgeous in the NN version. I know they've told us they'll be doing some more of the different threads, but are working through slowly into the expansion. They've already added a few colors into the basic floss line.

That's the one. Gorgeous design, but I really want to do it in surface work - great long and short practice and good way to learn to control color. Email me off list - how much is the chart? I may want to get it for a guide! =2E

I do wish this summer didn't appear to be going "stupid" (driving school for DS, DS needs job and transportation to same....hockey camps and ....)

99% of the supplies but not kitted and certainly not started until I have a real place that my stitching can stay put and not need to be put away.

I'll e-mail you off list. But, to let you know - she did the piece over 1. She just released a new design, a Lily, which at least is over 2. The Calla Lily hangs at the base of the stairs when you come in the shop. It's a big, multi page chart.

No, I forget the name/number off the top of my head, but it's a dark pink/purpleish mix.

Really? It didn't fight back much for me, but maybe it was just that I wasn't using it to do anything that it didn't like doing ;-)

Best wishes, Ericka

The chart runs 24 pages. Not that I was looking at for myself. Just assisting someone else find her starting point.
