I have been digging for and collecting antique bottles since I was 12 years old, (now 45), I've always sold, traded or horse swapped these little glass treasures with the 'locals' up until about 4 years ago when I was introduced to the web, and on-line selling. Since that time I have unearthed and placed in private (& public) collections literally thousands of artifacts from our past! My customers include collectors, dealers, wholesalers & investors in the US, Canada and several foreign countries! Count on my items being accurately described and well packaged so you won't have any surprises on your end when they arrive. I've been told bottle collecting has become the number three hobby here in the U S, and I've watched the prices rise steadily over the last 10 years, even on the more common examples. In my opinion its still a ground floor opportunity, with bargains to be had in every category! Now you to can buy 'Digger Direct' from the source!_____ * _____After over 30 Years of finding dumps and digging old bottles, I think the question I have been asked most often by those who have viewed my collection would have to be,"How do you know where to dig?Fairly recent (last fall) I was posed this question from a guy who has purchased several fine bottles from me as well as a few dealers to which I've referred him, and has an outstanding collection of early bottles started. But as he put it, "I want to experience the thrill of being the first to see and handle a bottle since it was thrown away over a hundred years ago." I could relate to that, its exactly the feeling I always got and still do to this day when I unearth a bottle or other piece of our history that has gone unseen by human eyes since it was buried or lost a century or more ago! I started explaining the methods I use to research an area, what I look for and where I look for it but seen that a quick 'crash course' conversation wasn't going to do the trick! I would have liked to have taken him on a dig but late fall is a really busy time for me and I just couldn't get it in. With that fresh on my mind, I started writing this booklet on finding and digging dumps! I hear alot of "There ain't no dumps left" or "That ones been dug" but the fact of the matter is There are ALOT of dumps & privies yet to be dug and good bottles to be found!BOTTLE COLLECTING is one of only a few hobbies today where anybody with alittle ambition is on equal ground with the big boys and their bank accounts! Indeed I have bottles in my collection that I've dug which I would never have been able to afford to purchase, and the sale of duplicates and bottles I've found outside of my interests have funded the purchase of more than one bottle I really wanted! Plus there's the 'Thrill' mentioned earlier that money just can't buy! Its not a big, 'last word on bottles' type of book, I don't know everything there is to know and don't claim to. It's a book on how I do it, tips and techniques I use that have kept me with places to dig over the last thirty years! It's not a real fancy book either, made it myself, my paper and staple bound, but came out surprisingly nice! Its approximately 40 pages, with chapters on everything I should have told this fellow before he went afield! Equipment, Getting Permission, Researching, What to look for & Where to look for it, Planning your Excavation, Types of Excavating I use, and a chapter on locating and digging the Outhouses. Reading it over I guess I get alittle side tracked here and there with stories, and my drawings or diagrams are far from professional, but will give anyone a good basic knowledge of the subject to go out and start finding their own sites to dig. I guess this is geared more towards dump digging in 'Rural America' rather than the cities but thats where

90% of my digs happen.
