Please help potter stranded in Kern County!

hi everybody. long time no read! on our way moving (from CA to WA) my wife and i were detoured to in-laws' and will probably still be here for at least another month before moving on. we are in Bakersfield, California (in the heart of Kern County) and i have not found one pottery studio!

i'm sure they're here though. could anyone help? i'd love to at least visit a studio/gallery or -- dare i say -- even maybe do little work in someone's studio (which i'd pay for). i realize there is always the option of local colleges, but i don't plan on being here long enough for that.

please help! (feel free to email me directly if you'd prefer.)

thanks a bunch.

California has more pottery studios than can be imagined. I would suggest you call into the local college not for classes but to speak to someone in the arts department. They will more than likely put you in touch with a potter that can help you. If you are going through San Bernardino, Ken Reed teaches at San Bernardino State College (or did - he might also be at San Bernardino Community College) and he is not only outstanding as an artist but has contacts with other very fine potters (his wife for one). He is a Paul Soldner student and might know if he is having a workshop or Ken Reed might be doing something like that as well.
