Regarding glazing and its secrets!

After browsing or reading about couple of dozen books on pottery, I took my first class just yesterday. This early on it is very aparent to me that the glazing on a piece of formed clay can make or brake it, ultimately. I have browsed and/or read several books on pottery and some specifically on glazes, all of them go an explain a simple technique or glaze and then show a beautiful sample that although it may incorporate the explained technique, clearly has other ones or glazes applied. I wish there was a book that starting with a bisqued piece, it would take me thru the glazing process resulting in those beautiful pieces shown by the books. Are or is there such book(s)?

I'd love to know, for instance, how the stuff in this page has been done:

Hi Guy, there are so many ways to glaze and an almost limitless number of glazes to be had or made. As you have stated that you have only just had your first class I would advise patience as I'm sure you're tutor will get around to glazing fairly soon. As a more general guide; the thing to do is to experiment on the pots that you find the least merit in. Try using just two simple glazes and observe the results (e.g. a pot whose body is mainly covered with a green glaze but then has just the rim dipped in a simple white glaze). I know it's all terribly exciting and you probably can't wait to rush ahead but like most pottery/ceramics the best results come with experiment and practise (and the odd happy accident). Good luck!
