soap dish

Hi Everyone, Someone asked me to make them a toothbrush holder and a cup and a soapdish for their bathroom. I am having some difficulty figuring out how to make the soapdish. My main problem is how to keep the soap from staying wet in the soap dish. I want to make it on the wheel then make it rectangle. Thank you for any advice. Sandi

Look at soapdishes in the stores -- there are several means to keep the soap from getting yucky-

raised ridges across the bottom - high enough that moisture can drain off the soap - and the soap will sit above the drips.

Raised points - same concept - hold the soap up off the bottom of the dish.

Two part soap dish -- with the upper part having drain holes in it - that sits inside a deeper bottom dish. (think of a double boiler - with the top part having holes drilled in it) These are the best and easiest to clean.

I make soap dishes by throwing a thick plate form and then throwing deep circular ridges in it with one finger. If you make it like that and then cut it square it'll be self draining as well. Bonus!!
