To Annemarie

Anneemarie,

Now that everyone has calmed down a bit, I would like to let you know the honest mistake I made. I joined 3 news groups. 2 were limited to my local area and this one wasn't. I didn't know that. I stupidly thought I was on a local group and directed my question for that.

I just wanted a Kiln, Not an international debate. I have a passion for Pottery, and two small children. I want them to experience pottery. You know--- Moms old kick wheel, squishy clay between the fingers, the thrill of seeing Hot Glowing Clay come to life... Disappointment when it blows to bits in the kiln, Pride..when a finished piece makes it's way to the shelf and you think... yeah, that's good. That's what it's all about for me.

Thanks to everyone for the help. Pete, I used to live in Charlotte!!! and thanks for a brain jolt. Seagrove is the perfect place to go.

Explains a lot :o) and I did apologise, more than once. Ya know camels straw and all that, I had a bad week too. You copped some of it for a mistake lots of people had made before you. Some through ignorance and some like you through an understandable mistake. What can I say!!!!

I tried emailing you (didn't fly) because I didn't want to expand this thread. What I had said was that it is not all that uncommon for anyone to think locally when writing an email message, especially in this format because it is very informal and off the cuff in most cases. Most who would have had something to offer would have simply asked you where you are (and you would have probably responded with OOPs.... yeah - sorry about that - I'm in Pookeepsie, Ten Buck Two, USSR.... It really has nothing to do with thinking in terms of USA vs UK or anyplace else. It is simply how humans function. Not stupid - we are just by nature egocentric and we tend to think if we share common ground on one thing (potting) we share common ground and everything else (boy did that get me fried in Rec.Ponds when I badmouthed Bush)....

I have my old email that is now cancelled on ngs because I got too much spam. Hey I'm not going to apologise again. Pete and Russell also posted that it is helpful :o) if a person posts where they live. As for local newsgroups. We have for instance nz.general, but there are people from all over the world who subscribe to it.

You misunderstood. I thought there no need to apologize. It is a very common event and not one I consider thoughtless or unkind. Those are the ones I think call for an apology... And this is why I wanted to email and not post... Sorry about that misunderstanding. I only post now because the room is so quiet.
