I want to look at some thrown vase like pots with paired handles that I have always called "urns", but apparently, that word has been taken over by the cremation folk.
Does anyone have links or galleries with such things? TIA

Perhaps you could search under grecian or greek urns, or ancient urns. Just a thought
Instead of using the word "urns" try using the word "amphora", which are the larger conical vessels used by Greeks Romans and Phoenicians to transport and store wine, grains, and most everything else. Amazing whatcha learn watching the national Geographic Channel :>) Wayne Seidl
i have a book on greek pottery. try:
Athenian Vase Construction, a potter's analysis
by Toby Schreiber
the j Paul getty museum, malibu, california
in the back few pages are images of "all" the greek styles and their names. i have copies hanging up in my workshop to review the various shapes.
the J P Getty museum has the largest collection of greek pottery in the world. i've seen the one museum in los angeles, and liked the fact that their gift shop was selling LARGE excelent quality posters for not-bad prices. even post cards with various greek pots. try getting ahold of them and search further there.
try some of these greek pottery style names:
Dinos Hydria Kalpis Kylix Gordion Siana Cup Komast Cup Pyxis Nikosthenic Pyxis Rhyton Skyphos Stamnos Oinochoe Pelike Psykter Psykter-Amphora Loutrophoros-Amphora Olpe Chous Oinochoe Mastoid Lebes Gamikos Lekythos Kantharos Calyx-Krater Kyathos
see ya
