A crib quilt for Japan?

You know, I will try. It just dawned on me: each retreat participant is given a 30" x 6' table of their own as work space. I will make a printed sign to "advertise" what my focus is. I will get in to my large stash of southwest fabrics this weekend, and pull for YBR or wicked easy, or warm wishes type patterns. This will be the quickest for me. Perhaps even put some top kits together for those who would join me. We often do "table crawl" a couple of times, in small group or individually, to see what others are doing/look at machines and doodads. This will be perfect. A couple of years ago I orchestrated everyone making [surprise] holiday ornaments for Dawn, the retreat organizer.

Thanks Polly. Now I have my focus for this retreat. Until this week I couldn't decide what of all my list of projects, to take with me. Yesterday I told my judge he would have to do without me next Fri 4/1 because "I am sewing for Japan".

Ginger, Polly & all On the front page of our Guild website there are designs for 5 beginner easy quilts. They are ones we use for Community Service and go together like a snap and fast. I just finished the 9 patch last week. They open with complete directions and are made with the idea of use by any & all.

I don't know much about Japanese babies in general, but I know I've got a sweet little 1/2 Japanese grandson across the street :-) My daughter-in-law is from Japan, although fortunately the west coast, and her family has so far been spared any troubles. Anyway, Alex -- the grandson -- is like all babies in that he likes bright colors.

One thing I do know about Japanese people is that they absolutely LOVE anything with English writing on it. Doesn't have to make any particular sense in Japanese, it just has to be English. Disney is big too, as are all other western icons -- and Hello Kitty of course!

In other words, any quilt that any baby would love will be more than welcome in Japan.
