The baby quilt is adorable, but I really like the One Block Wonder. The fabric choice was perfect for it, and the glitz will really be nice. Your border treatment is terrific too - you always come up with something just a little different and unexpected!

Thank you Louise. I have no idea how to have it (OBW) quilted. I"ll have to think about it for a while.

Wonderful!
Just curious: why do they call it One Block Wonder, and what qualifies? You made a marvelous focus fabric.

I guess it's called that because the quilt is usually made from just one fabric (excluding the geometric ones which are an added element in some of them..like mine) and just one block...a hexagon in this case.

Gosh, you're fast. Such a cute quilt, too, pretty bright colors! The blue and green quilt you have under "waiting to be quilted" is *awesome*.

I need to reorganize some of my "waiting to be quilteds". The blue and green one is finished and in the "quilts" album. It was a wedding gift. I just realized tonight that I removed two quilts from the "waiting" folder, but I don't think I have finished pictures to put in the quilts album. If so, I'll have to fix that.

those are some cute babys ya got there. um, so the devil, uh i mean Ms Polly made you do it. those gators are having a strange effect on her. beautiful in black and gold. those baby blocks or hollow or whatever you call'em are a nice addition amongst the kaleidoscopes. i always wish there was a decent size piece of the original fabric as well. i found it, really amazing what comes from one fabric. well done you!!! j.

Thanks Jeanne. When I made Stack and Whacks, I usually used the original fabric in the border. But on this "One Block Wonder" technique, I only used just a little strip of it in the narrow border at the top left corner. I think I'll put the piece of leftover fabric on the back so I have a record of what was cut up for the front.

What super fun baby panel! It's really sweet - and well worth using.
The One-block wonder is wonderful. I really love it - the fabric is amazing. When you are choosing a fabric for something like that, are there any guidelines for your choice? or do you just have to like the colours and hope? . In message , KJ writes

Are the babies on that baby quilt from a panel or did you applique those? I want to make one of those! It's wonderful!

Isn't that just the cutest! I made it when there was just a pattern -- before they came out with the panel. Sure would have been a bit easier -- but either way, very cute. I'll get a picture in my webshots soon.

Wow! Kathyl, that One Block Wonder is just gorgeous! I love the detail in the border and the blocks that pop out in the corner. As for the baby quilt, I've loved that fabric line for a long time -- you did a great job on it. :)

Thanks Louise. There are some nice quilts on those pages. Some of them look like they used a fairly big triangle for their blocks. Those seem a little clunky compared to the ones that use smaller ones. It's neat to look at different quilts made with the technique.
