Back from my travels

Hi All

Here goes again with this post. I guess that the first one vanished into cyberland.

Had a really good visit with family in Michigan. Made it back for my niece's HS graduation party, took Mom to her HS reunion, visited with my aunts, did some chores around Mom's house, visited with Grandma (she's now

90), did some chores around my cottage, visited with my neighbors back there (son is now a doctor, met them when he was in grade school, now I feel old), sat and talked with Mom and we handsewed out on the deck overlooking the lake. Was just a good visit over all. Started out in the 90's, then the 60's, and ended up in the 80's so fairly good weather. Got to experience a good thunder and lightning storm. Haven't stood at the window at night and was such a show in a long time.

Then off to Anaheim. Up at 4:30 and made it out west by noon. Of course my room wasn't ready so I walked around a bit but was just too poopted to do that for long. I found a corner in the lobby, got out the applique and spent about three hours relaxing and sewing. It was the Triennial meeting of the Episcopalians so I had to be on my best behavior with several thousand of attendees around the hotel and convention center. Nothing like a man handsewing to turn peoples heads and for several to stop and talk. Most intersting and I met several people from all over the world. Very nice.

School business club meetings were partially successful. Always something in education to change and modify. Most competition tests were audited, edited and in some cases rewritten with some still in progress. So good to see everyone and make connections again. I'm taking on a bit more as I will be chair of the Finance contest group next year. Most new duties will be by email so not much extra on my plate.

Taria and I were not able to meet up. Our free evenings did not mesh. Also not able to visit the LQS she suggested as we, my school group, were so busy with meetings and things. I did see the LQS though from the airport shuttle as we drove by at 5:30 in the morning on the way home.

So, I'm back home as of last Friday in my own bed eating my own home cooking again. Bert is so glad about that. New furnace and water heater now in after two days, bathroom remodel now being tackled, company from down states is arriving August 1 and school starts August 11. No rest for the wicked as they say.

I've read most of the headlines of the postings and it looks like everyone is doing well which is so good. Good to be back.

What a great vacation! Your description of a good ol' thunderstorm makes me a bit misty. I'm glad to know you're home, sorry school starts so soon for you. But I'm mostly glad you behaved in front of all those Episcopalians -- I hear they're a delicate lot. (BEG) Welcome back!
