back from weekend retreat

Hi all,

My hubby suggested last week that we take an overnight trip Sunday up to Palm Springs to relax and sun ourselves by the pool at our favorite resort. So we piled the kids and all their "stuff" into the big green minivan, and headed out to the desert! The kids had a blast in the pool, and I got a little R&R away from home, which was wonderful. The temperature hit something around 110F on Sunday, but I hid in the shade and had a pina colada (and lots of water) so it was fine. Monday was cooler, but HUMID (most unusual for PS) so it was a litle more sticky yesterday. All in all, I read a number of chapters in the latest Harry Potter, perused a bunch of magazines, and worked on my quilted tote bag project. I tried sewing in the car, but it made me a little motion sick :^S

Now I'm back and just have to sew the buttons on (I cheat and use my machine) and I'll be ready to work on one of my other two WIPs/UFOs/whatever they are.

As a kid, I never knew there was any other way. LOL! MSM showed me how to do buttonholes on the machine, but never went over buttons. So I just assumed everyone did them by machine, too! Never broke a needle or a button once. :)

Howdy! Sounds like Ann had fun, tho'; possibly the novelty of a new place. ;-)

Reminds me of 2 favorite authors I've met in July at local bookstores; I asked, "Who did you p!ss of that they sent you to Tx. in July?!!" One replied that it was better than the floods he'd faced one April, w/ accompanying tornado warnings.

Carol Doaks was here a couple of years ago in July, bless her heart. I wasn't in town that week, so I missed her at the Arlington guild, but I did send cooling thoughts in her direction.

Arlington guild's quilt show: August!! :

It's cheap, it's a short drive, the hotel had a great pool, and it wasn't so bad in the shade! I didn't even think about trying to find a quilt shop, but now that I know there's a good one, maybe next time!

We want to go to Big Bear sometime so> Yikes, why would anyone come to Palm Springs in all of this heat? I left for
