Bargello Placemats

And WAY more trouble than they are worth!

time, I'll go to Target and buy some. However, this a possible class in our next session at Country Sampler, so I thought I'd give them a try. My thinking is that people might want to 'try' a new technic like bargello, without committing to a large project. Place mats are a 'toe in the water' approach that might be fun.

Pattern from BARGELLO QUILTS by Marge Edie and I do admit I have a hankering to try one of the larger projects with all sort of swoops and swirls!

They really turned out nice though. I've had that book for years Joan and I've been tempted to try some of the more complicated ones. But I've found that I'm not at sewing long seams with a consistant seam allowance. My bargello might have unintended swoops and swirls. I may break down and try one though. I do know all the tricks for straight seams....I just don't always follow them. Though it may not have been fun, the placemats are wonderful. Congrats!

Those are very nice. I have that pattern, and hope to make some. I would love to make a bargello quilt, but I need to get some of the other WIP's done first. They are beginning to take over everything, lol. I think they must multiply if you don't work on them for 2 or 3 months, lol.

IMO these look great as a 3-panel wallhanging! Roberta in D

Well, as a matter of fact. There is a 'tube' remaining that would make 3 more placemats, which I don't need. I'm thinking a one piece table runner for the console table behind my couch?

They're pretty, Joan! I like the way they "continue" from one to the next.
