cost? free

one easy place.... webshots.....

That's where mine are (see the link below) and many others as well. You can create multiple albums within one webshots listing. You can reaarange pictures easily if you want to highlight a certain image... or regroup them. I find it works perfect for me!

I have found webshots very user friendly! I believe Yahoo! pictures is no longer in existance.

is another one -- but I'm not terribly familiar with it.

There are many others out there including

but they are designed for people to purchase prints (like you took all the pictures at your family reunion... you put them on shutterfly and your family members go and purchase the prints they want. If you merely post but never buy -- your pictures will eventually be deleted by them.

I've got pictures up at both Webshots and Flickr. Both are free. Both are easy to use. I prefer Webshots because I can arrange the pictures in many theme albums the way I want to, converse easily with others who have albums, participate in contests, and easily bookmark anybody's home page to view their albums again later. Some people prefer Flickr, but I haven't figured out why since I have found it to be very limited in it's use, and sometimes clique-ish.

Rules? No p*rn or other inappropiate photos. Be nice when you write comments on someone else's pictures. Stuff like that.

I'd be very cautious about putting any person's face online though. There are just too many weirdos and online stalkers out there for me to feel happy about uploading an unobstructed view of anyone's face where literally the whole world can see it. With Webshots you can put up pix that you only want your friends and family to see in a private, access by invitation only, album. I don't know if you can have a private online album at Flickr. I prefer looking at Flickr because I find it loads *much* faster than Webshots.

I like and use Webshots. I had some up on other sites but they don't seem as easy and don't allow as many pictures in total. Webshots is easy to get up and running on. A lot of people like flicker also. It is probably a case of, you [don't] pays your money and you makes your choice".

But you might want to know first that webshots is notorious for causing people problems when they go to view it. My computer locks up just about every time, and I don't feel like spending half a day trying to track down the cause, so I don't follow any links to webshots. I've heard from a number of other people who have this problem.

really? I've never heard that before... not that I don't believe you.... I wonder what causes it? Are you on dial-up or high speed internet? Mac or PC? I wonder if there is something we can do so that it isn't a problem! Do you have problems with other intense graphic pages loading?

anyhow -- sorry to hear that webshots causes you problems...

DSL, does it on my PC and one (but not all) of my Macs. Someone suggested it's a problem with Javascript or the ads webshots wants to load. No other problems with graphics-intense pages, javascript, or ad-intensive sites. I can view their main page without problems, but 90% of the webshots links I've followed to pix have locked up the computer.

As I said, it's not a big enough deal to warrant spending hours and hours trying to fix it. I spent almost a day on it in the past and that's all I want to invest in solving the problem. Webshots can do the rest if they want me to look at their site. :)

Howdy!

This is what my professional IT friends warn against, too, Kathy. Several have told me to stay out of webshots for my computer's sake... or maybe they're showing stuff they don't want me to see.

Btw, Yahoo sent everyone to Flicker. I didn't make that recommended trip, not enough control over the privacy mode for my pics. Right now they have a warning at Flicker about security issues. Sometimes "Free is worth just that." ;->

I agree, Kathy -- I'm not crazy about webshots at all. However, there are other options. PhotoBucket and Flickr pop to mind, as does PictureTrail. I haven't looked at them recently, so I don't know if they're even still there, but they didn't have the same problems as websh*ts.

Flickr loads much slower for me. Perhaps it has something to do with the location of the server in relation to our home computers. Debra in VA See my quilts at:
