Black and muslin...yep, that was me! Thanks for the heads up! Is this the fabric that is stiff or does it have a nice hand?

I've bought one round of black fabric and was completely disappointed with how rough it felt and how loosely woven it looked. So, give me some ideas on the quality please???

Dannielle, let me climb in and confuse the issue. Instead of solid black (which reads 'this is a very serious occasion' to me), I've enjoyed using Basix Black Dots by Timeless Treasures. It has very tiny pindots of many colors and adds some life and motion to what would otherwise be rather solemn. You can see it over at

It has a nice disposition and kindly obscures less than perfect points and stitches. Polly

Any Kona cotton that I have used, I have liked. It's definitely a closer weave - not like the cheapie muslin from JoAnns. Although the black that Polly is just posted about sounds really interesting, I'm going to have to check that out.

How did I ever miss this site?

Oh jeeeeze, I couldn't resist......I just ordered 2 yards ~click~ AND "South Seas Imports Paw Prints" from the clearance bin.......toooooooo cute for another black background, 2 yards ~click~ better go back for three yards instead ~click~, and then I saw a few other "just eggzackly what I didn't know I've always been looking for" ~click, click.......click~ and now my allowance is spent through March of 2009....I couldn't help myself, I am

*so* asha-a-a-a-a-med........~trying really, really hard to look convincingly ashamed and remorseful~

You need not lead me to temptation.......I just had Polly for a guide!

I like it for those quilts that don't need the solid black. A very interesting alternative! Thanks for the link, I hadn't heard of this store before!

Yeah, Polly, I did get a yard or two plus several more yards of other stuff - ended up with an order of about $70. You're definitely an enabler!! :-)
