Blue and white wedding quilt finished (almost)

This has been one of those "everything goes wrong" quilts that was planned to be very easy. While in Muscatine, Iowa I purchased the blue print. I calculated what I needed then doubled it because I didn't want to come up short. Besides it is one of those classic fabrics that one can always use.

The white fabric was purchased at the quilt shop where I teach so I received a discount. I bought a little more than I thought I would need and then proceeded to cut too many small strips so didn't have enough for the large strips. Fortunately there was still some left at the store. The second time I purchased an extra yard because I didn't have time to come back again. Good thing I did because when I put the pieced top on the bed to check what size borders it needed I decided it really needed an extra row of blocks. Of course this is one of those patterns that you can't just add one row so added two rows.

Top is finished. Borders are on. Tonight I start to cut the back. Fortunately I know the "measure twice, cut once" rule. The plan was to have three horizontal panels. (finished size of quilt is 96" by 115") There was only enough backing for 2 1/2 panels. I gave up and grabbed something from the stash for the third panel. So it doesn't quite match. It is close. The panels are cut but I can't face ironing them tonight. They are sprinkled and waiting for the final two seams in the morning.

The binding is made. The gal who will do the long arm quilting is expecting it about 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. She should be able to finish it tomorrow or at least by Monday. That gives me Tuesday to bind it. Wednesday and Thursday I teach. Friday we leave and Saturday is the wedding. The top looks good but don't put a ruler to it. Some blocks were 9 1/2" and some were 9 1/4". I trimmed them all to 9 1/4". Don't ask me where I lost the 1/4" on some and not others.

No, I haven't made a label. I will probably write directly on the back like I did for the last family wedding in October. Hope I remember to take a picture.

My blue and white wedding quilt (double wedding ring) went to the long arm quilter last week. I don't have the binding waiting and ready to go. The wedding was in August! Bride is very patient!

I'm sure it will be lovely! Relax... take a breath! sounds like you've earned it!
