Border design

Somewhere I've seen a border that looks like a ribbon....it folds back and forth from the front to the back (contrasting colors)all around a quilt. It's something like this:

Is it on YOUR quilt? I'm looking for the pattern, or at least its name. Thanks,

I should have mentioned it's similar to version #2.

Careful there, Alice. Recently, I made a baby girl quilt with a pieced ribbon bow. The colors I used (we're probably talking 'value' here but it's too late at night for me to care) didn't have enough contrast and the effect was sort of lost. Be sure that what you choose has a good contrast so your ribbons will really curl. Polly

Alice, That is a lovely border! I would cut the pieces differently than on Marcia's site. All those seams distract me, although the end result is lovely. I'd prefer to cut dark square, lighter parallelogram, and background triangle. Others may prefer to copy the Cache pattern. We each need to work so it makes sense to us. In either case, I think it is very important to heed Polly's advice about sufficient contrast. Let us know how this one works out!

Great quilt ... excellent choice of quilting on that border.

I make it differently again: I like this pattern a lot, and I make it in Seminole fashion, making strip sets and slicing them up - according to what sizes and colours I need. You do have to trim off some excess points, but not so much as would deter me from using the method. . In message , Pat in Virginia writes

Oh? I hadn't thought of Seminole for this, but am considering it. It would avoid cutting and sewing lots of small pieces on bias.

I suppose it would be a matter of a strip of red between two of white, slicing that strata, interspersing the second red, hen cutting at an angle. Is that the most efficient way of employing Seminole on this?

For those new to the conversation, Pat and I are talking about the curling ribbon border at
