Chicago Quilt show in April

Well, Lyn and I've gone and done it. Taken the plunge. Got our reservations at the Hyatt. Paid for 5, DID I SAY 5?!, workshops apiece (actually, Lyn's 4, I'm 5). Now, to eliminate Feb and March from the calendar and get right to April!!!

Musicmaker: Do you have a link for this show? A specific date in April? Thanks. I remember some years when some organization was hosting big show in Chicago in March!! I avoid anyplace north of here in winter! PAT

OH, it will be here in just a couple of days. I will be in Shipshewana at the same time at the Chicago Show and I know from experience it will be here before I'm ready for it.

I'm confused. The topic line says the show is in April. Maybe you and Musicmaker are talking about two different events? PAT, trying to plan a vacation around a quilt show!!

I'm going to be in Shipshe in April, same time as the Chicago Show. I just meant that April will be here before we know it.

Bad attempt at a poor joke, Pat.

I also hope to go this year although I will be sleeping at home and driving the hour to the show each day. Actually don't know how many days I will be able to get away. Thursday night is my favorite time as there are fewer people so you can actually get into the booths and shop. Will probably just go Thursday night and again on Sunday. I am working on a sample for one of the venders to hang in their booth. Will let you know if I finish in time. Blocks are finished but the border is all applique and only one of the four border strips is currently underway.

As we get closer to the date let's try to set a meet-up.

DH and I were planning to take a detour to the show on our way home. Unfortunately we had to book our dates for health insurance before we found the dates for the show, and have to be back in Canada before it starts! Maybe next year.....

Thanks ... I still have time to figure this out. How cold is it in Chicago at that time? I was up in Northern Virginia this week and it was cold enough for me there! I'm turning into a hot house rose .... LOL. PAT

For those of you not familiar with Chicagoland -- it's referred to as the Chicago show. Actually, it's in Rosemont which is a muncipality with its own quirky history (you can look it up--Wikipedia says it very well). The show is put on by Quilts, Inc., the producers who bring us the truly big show in Houston and the new, summer edition in Long Beach.

I toted TDB (The Damn' Banner, another RCTQ tradition) to the first Rosemont show way back in 2003. We did get a picture of five or six of us with said banner and affixed our signatures.

Nann, who may actually have a weekend free to go to this year's show!, and wondering who is TDB's caretaker these days

The weather in Chicago in mid April is, well, unpredictable. In my experience, it may rain, but it almost never is freezing. Closer to the date, you can check out the forecast at any one of a number of different weather sites. I for one do not plan on leaving the building - I am going to gorge myself on the sites, the workshops, my fellow quilters, the vendors.

April in Illinois in general anywhere from Chicago to Cario can be iffy. One day it'll be 80F the next 30F. But you'll probably be fine with long pants, lightweight sweaters, or long sleeved T-shirts, and some sort of light, but lined coat.
