Howdy!

Well, there we go: the U.S. Civil War has been "over" for a 145 yrs and someone's still looking for a dress to wear to it? Perhaps something to go w/ all those gloves Mrs. Lincoln bought (300 pairs). Might as well quilt.

A friend of mine used to work for the industrial museum service in East Fife, which was one of Scotland's main areas for industrial cloth production (most of it went into linoleum eventually). He helped clear out one factory which had gone bust in the 1970s. They had hundreds of bolts of tent canvas in store, all embroidered with "CSA" for "Confederate States of America".

They'd been stuck with it after the trade blockade hit.

And seemingly spent the next 120 years waiting for the South to rise again and buy it.

Oh well, *somebody* had to do something about that stereotype of the canny Scot's business sense.

After they went bust, the receivers got a good price for it from suppliers to (US) Civil War re-enactment groups. You'd think that in a century you ought to be able to locate a buyer who didn't mind the logo, if you actually put some effort into it.
