cover for large ironing board thingy

you know those covers you can get for a regular ironing board that have a grid marked on them? Does anyone know if you can get them for those large boards you can put on top of a regular ironing board? I could really do with one, if they don't exist I'll mark some lines on muslin, but it will be a faff and not so durable.

that's a good idea, will measure the board and check what size they come in..

Hi Anne, While at the Houston International Quilt Festival, I bought a new cover for my ironing board with the grid marks on it, really nice fabric. I just went and found the receipt. The vendor was Golden Hands Industries, Inc. P.O. Box 720279, Atlanta, GA 30358. Email: snipped-for-privacy@aol.com Phone: 800 998-1392

The vendor had all sizes of covers and different fabrics, cotton, teflon, silicon, grids, non-grids, etc. I'm sure if you contact him, he will have what you're looking for. I paid about $23.00 for my cover. This sounds like a commercial, but it's not really; I'm not affiliated with the vendor in any way, but I do like the cover I bought. Hope this helps. Michelle

Yes they are made. Not sure where to buy them I will try to remember to ask at the shop today. (They have a big board with a gridded cover. and I am teaching this morning.) Just remember that when you put the gridded cover on you have to be sure to square it up as you go, it is easy to pull the grid out of line. :( An alternative is to use a permanent marker, like a sharpie to mark your own grid after putting the top on.

Wow....I'm so impressed. You could find the receipt. I usually lose them before I even get home....and not on purpose either! There is a black hole somewhere that's getting fuller and fuller with my lost paperwork.

If they have a website it's not proving easy to find. I've fired off an email to them and will call if that doesn't work. Thanks for the information, sounds positive!

I thought about that and almost had the pen in my hand, but then decided that as the covering is stapled directly on to the wood board, that I didn't want to mark it and should probably investigate a cover regardless as to whether it has a grid or not, a cover might be washable and should be cheaper than a new board! Though I did manage to get the board for 45 dollars, so not a breaking job.

Cheers Anne
