Crib quilt panel

I was given a crib quilt panel by a dear friend who keeps me from going to the pore house. Well. What a puzzle. It was alphabet animal blocks and adorable. They'd printed it so it was 3 blocks by 10. Really. We all know there's 26 letters in the alphabet but they'd tossed in cute stuff like "now I can sing my ABC's". Still, I had to cut the blocks apart and reassemble since I didn't want a quilt that very weird size. Tried to lay them out. Easy? Right? I know the alphabet but there was 2 Fs and no X. Huh? I couldn't think of an animal whose name began with X. I guess they couldn't either. Someone had tossed a Fox in for the X. 'Just in case' some little guy learns the alphabet from this dear little print, I took the safe way out and appliquéd an X for the missing critter. Is there an animal with an X name? I considered yo-yo but that's not an animal and not an X either. I really need adult supervision. Polly

Well, I googled "Are there any animals beginning with x?" and this is what the answer was: Answer:

Yes there are several:

There's the x-ray fish (also called Pristella maxillaris but x-ray is common name), which lives in the waters of south-western Texas, Mexico, Central and South America. There's the xami hairstreak, a butterfly with worldwide distribution.

There's xanthippe's shrew which lives in Kenya and Tanzania. There's the xantic sargo (another fish). There's Xantus's hummingbird, Xantus's leaf-toed gecko and xantus's swimming crab (John Xantus de Vesey was obviously a busy little zoologist).

There's the xestus fangblenny and the xingu corydora(yet another fish) and the x-l spring tui chub (which is another fish and a bit of a strech but still technically qualifies). Also, Xucaneb robber frog or xylophagous leafhopper xuthus swallowtail or xeric ambersnail.

This is hardly and exhaustive list.

Or you could try something with names:

NAMES: Xavier, Xana, Xanoca, Xodus, Xolto, Xtera, Xaltier, Xena, Xantigo, Xylo, Xenia, Xenara, Xenu

Pretty hard to find one that is instantly recognizable to go with the other letters.

Good luck, I think you will find something Polly, I know you won't let it beat you.

I agree with Polly - huge praise for a great reply!

Could you have an elephant playing a xylophone?

'X if for the xylophone the elephant is playing' >g<

Or, as Di suggests - a name:

'Xana the elephant' . In message , DiMa writes

Xs and Os are for hugs and kisses. Could you use the X for a kiss and work it into a 'love message' for the child?
