Cure for quilters block!!

Hi everyone I have been down south as we call it, here in Perth Western Australia. It is a beautiful quiet place amongst the giant Karri and Tingle trees and I am one of the lucky ones who has a DH who happily piles the car and trailer with all my sewing needs for our 2 week get away. This year I decided that along with the crates of fabric (you never know which piece you will need), a pile of UFO's, sewing machine, lamp, embroidery threads, beads and the rest of my sewing room I would need a trestle table as there wasn't a big enough table for me last year. He did whinge a little but as I nodded at his and my son's surf ski on the roof and Didgeridoos in the car, he gave in and added the table.

As usual the peice and beauty of the forest got my creative juices flowing and I was very strong against the desire to start a new quilt (though I did sneak in a small lap quilt just to keep me fresh), I finished a single bed quilt that I had won 6 very different blocks for last year and was under pressure to have completed for September this year, I completed a pile of friendship blocks and a couple of small tops as well as make a waist coat for my son's wedding - still have to do the jacket but the tops were calling and I couldn't stop myself creating. So if those UFO's are screaming at you - take them away, somewhere peaceful and get stuck into them. Can't wait til Tuesday night for my patchwork groups show and tell - they will fall out of their chairs!

Happy quilting Liz

Well done! It's a good idea -as in, "can't go home until this is finished". Got photos? We enjoy falling off chairs occasionally. Roberta in D

Giant Karri and Tingle trees! I have no idea what they are, but it sounds as if they came straight out of a fantasy story book! Or maybe a poem!

My thought exactly. Please describe these trees -- or better yet, create quilt blocks featuring them.

Ooo and they are lovery trees at that! DH and I spent a week amongst them last year. DH climbed all the tower trees while I sat quietly feet firmly on the ground in amongst the trees and visited with the birds :-)

Those tower trees give a great view. I climbed the Gloucester Tree in Pemberton in '97, exactly 20 years after I'd climbed it the first time. I think I was a little slower this time, but at least I had my video camera to "prove" I'd done it. DH was the crazy one - he climbed all three of them on the same day! He slept very well that night. :-)
