directory email response

I might have missed this before, but I thought that we were to get an email response when we filled out the directory form. I didn't get one. Did I miss a message about this?

Hi Martha -- this was posted by Alice yesterday and should help clear things up:

----- "Just to clarify:

If you receive a confirmation page when you hit the submit button, I received your information.

The test emails are done after all the forms are received. This test email is done for one purpose and one purpose only

- to make sure the email address you entered is valid. It is not to confirm that I received your form, the confirmation page does that.

So, if you see the confirmation page, you're good to go. Test emails will start on September 16."

No email confirmation is sent, Sue. Just a web page that pops up after you've submitted your info, with the confirmation wording.

It isn't an e-mail we receive. After you fill in the form you press the 'submit' button. Then the screen immediately changes to a confirmation page with all the details you have submitted so that you can check them.

My confirmation started: Dear Sally at the Seaside, Thank you for submitting your RCTQ Directory Information to be included in Vol. 14 which will be distributed to those whose information is verified. The information you submitted is as follows:

and then all my info was set out, with a little note at the bottom on what to do if any of the info was incorrect.

We receive an e-mail later on when the list is closed and Alice tests all the e-mails to make sure they work before letting us have the list.

I choose spreadsheet (sortable)

the confirmation page says table if i select spreadsheet;

if i choose text (not sortable) the response says

so if i want spreadsheet and say spreadsheet sortable, and the confirmation says table, do i perceived that this is confirming what i asked for?

[I am just back from a week of intensive weaving preceded and followed by 500 miles of driving on hectic interstates, including dodging highway debris successfully all but once :'( , so if i don't understand this, i have somewhat an excuse!]

I used to do it that way, but Alice isn't. I don't blame her. It's time consuming. She's posted about how she's doing things in other places.

This is a carryover from the last revision. Those that chose "text" will get the Word format. Those that did not choose "text" will get the spreadsheet format.

This must have really thrown you for a loop, you entered the form a record six times!

you're lucky you didn't get more! i didn't realize that when i went back to the info form to change it, or try to figure out which was which, that it already was submitted. i thought when i went to the confirmation page, that then there would be an entry to check to approve and submit. i was totally focussed on trying to sort out why when i had clearly marked spreadsheet, it confirmed table!

oh well, thats what i get for reading the instructions :-) and after i had even paused to go look at last years to make sure of the email address i used.

somehow computer stuff never gets easier by trying to make it simple?

That's ok. I think even if I put in another "Are you sure?" button, I would still get repeat entries. I will make the change to the format buttons for next time though to clarify what was selected.

The confirmation page says if you see anything that is incorrect, go back to the form and change it. Could this be the cause of some of your multiple entries? If we make a mistake, and have to change it, it sends you another one?
