When this Forest Hollow pattern group first came on the market, I said
that 'I love Owls!' but this set was too expensive.  A Canadian lqs
has since advertised them with the fabric pack for the immense cost of
$395!!!

For months, I have been checking the reduced price of the kit at
Nancy's Notions - waiting patiently through several special deals
which included free shipping (even to Canada) and other incentives.
Yesterday, the store advertised a 15% reduction on all purchases (not
including reduced or clearance items) - I tried it out today on the
Forest Hollow package - the kit is being shipped to my SC cousin to
await collection at a later date by my sister.
Another plus = the Cdn dollar is almost at par right now so another
savings to add to the pot and the Owls are mine......the extra savings
'allowed' me to also add one of those rotary blade sharpeners and some
other wannahave notions to the parcel.....now, all I have to do is
stay patient for several more weeks.......jennellh

Thank you 'Pat on the Green'!  Is your grass green and have the
daffodils shown their faces yet?   jennellh

Yes, to both questions!  Spring is really springing now.  Clocks go
forward on Saturday night.
I've been away for a few days, and it was a bit further south, so a bit
further on in the daffodil stakes.

Today DD called to announce the blooming of azaleas.  I launched into a
chorus of "Welcome, Sweet Spring Time" as painfully performed by Barney Fife
in Mayberry RFD.  She joined in.  It was quite terrible.  We both hoped that
cellphone call was being bugged.  Somebody would have gotten crimped ears.

O.T. Welcome, Sweet Springtime ...Re: Fate decided today!

Howdy!

"Good ol' 14-A"

I knew it before you mentioned his name, I could hear
Barney straining for that note.

One of my favourite views of York was always the daffodils on the
banks of the Bar Walls .... my Mum always liked narcissus because they
were the flowers that Dad gave her when I was born...real springtime
memories.  Bluebells and primroses next?
The time change happened in Canada a couple of weekends ago - after
long discussion, the powers that be decided that we had to be on the
same time-line as the US....the East Coast has a time-line of its own
because of the fisheries industry.  jennellh

You clever shopper, you! Well done! Can't wait to see what you do with
it. (Now, does drool count as pre-washing?)

What a gorgeous quilt that is going to be! And I can imagine that it
will be fun to make. Your patience and thrift are just icing on the
cake.

Thanks, Sunny...I think that it will be an interesting summer to work
on my owls.  jennellh

I think that I am all drooled out!  There are only certain types of
fabric that I do pre-wash these days - usually flannels, deep coloured
batiks, etc.  Many reasons why... jennellh

Re: Fate decided today!

I had looked at your post last night. This morning on my walk I was
thrilled to see the two hoot owls at the park again, before they took
to their nest for the day.

I love owls. Hmm, may have to spring for one of the patterns.

Re: Fate decided today!

It is so nice to hear of owl sightings - I used to hear them during
the night several years ago but they seem to have moved elsewhere
now.  I have to admit that I have never seen any live owls in person
(in the wild, anyway).  jennellh

Sometimes things work out well and that is so terrific.  Woohoo!  You'll
have to keep us updated on your progress.  That is going to be one beautiful
quilt.   So happy for you.
