Favourite Quilting Book ATM

I have just one or two Christmas presents to go and I am looking for some quilting books.

So . . . . What's your current favourite book about quilting? - new release or old - and why?

Hmmm... did you want a "how to" type book of just an eye candy sort of book?

Lately for me it's been the eye candy sort. I really like getting the annual show catalog from AQS. A picture of every quilt entered. I love to sit and drool. The other is the Japanese book that was recommended here...Japanese Quilts by Jill Liddell & Yuko Watanabe, 1988, E.F. Dutton out of print but I got a used copy through Amazon for under $20.

Oh mine is a tale of patience and ultimate victory!!!!

There is a book by Jeanna Kimball called "Applique Borders an Added Grace" that is all about adding fancy borders to your quilts. It comes with many full size patterns. It is also out of print. It has been selling on ebay for between $50 and $75 dollars. Well no matter how much I love a book I'm not paying that!!!!

So I waited and waited and waited and finally snapped it up on ebay (along with the book Quick & Easy Quiltmaking) for $26. WOOHOOO.

Sometimes you have to wait but EVERYTHING eventually shows up on ebay. :) NAYY.

Melissa in NJ P.S. I don't understand why this author doesn't reprint. Seems to me she'd rather have the book price money for the book in her pocket than the exorbitant (sp?) sums going into everyone else's pockets on ebay.....

I have Jeanna Kimball's book on red and green applique quilts. It has just been reprinted. So maybe . . . . .

Usually it's not the authors who decide these things, but the publishers.

I've got to look for it there! I returned it to the library, but I've been pining for it. ;)
