Finished Projects

I've just posted several photos to my Webshots Quilts album (near the end). You can see the Flower Garden Quilt I made for myself. I made another of these several years ago, and cut out the extra squares then for a second quilt....it just took my awhile to get it together and get it quilted! Also, I finished the Log Cabin for my grandson, Ben. That, too, was started last year, pieced last spring, and took awhile to complete. He will get it for Christmas. The three table toppers are for each of my sons and their wives/fiancee. Those, too, will be Xmas gifts. Now I'm working on a quilt for Ben's brother, Luke. I hope to finish that in time to give it to him for Xmas too.

Not that it's a good thing, but my husband's had neck problems with pain from pinched nerves and bulging discs. Then, last weekend, he was hospitalized to have two surgeries on his gall bladder. We've spent a lot more time at home than usual, and while he watches TV (mostly football), I quilt. It's been a productive time for me!

The kites with tails really call to me; that's delightful. Can it be done without backtracking? or much backtracking anyway? I have my crayons out but don't see a way. Polly

That flower garden is really pretty; what a pleasant change to see the 'sashing' in a pastel colour. Lovely. . In message , Polly Esther writes

Alice, sorry to hear of your DH's troubles. Had gallbladder surgery myself about 10 yrs ago. Just have him watch his fat content for a while. Took me a few years before that settled out. Hopefully the neck pain will subside as well without surgery. Good on you for finishing so many projects!

Well, it's not finished but getting there, definitley: For the last 4 years I have lumped yarn of all kinds together, and fabric. And cringed most times to go into the crafty room.

Today I pulled all the yarn out [except for the three big bins in the outside storage but those are all 4ply acrylic in oranges, reds and yellows]. Dumped it all on my bed. Sorted everything by solids/multi/ sport & baby/bulky/worsted weights/cotton vs acrylic. Emptied the two

20 gallon containers of material plus other large plastic bins of fabric. Now those have yarn. Material is now in 10 gallon containers plus the five drawer high-boy dresser. The batting is all in its own spot. Sewing machines are handy. This week I hope to sort through the fabric and separate it by color group/holiday/juvenile/batik. And maybe start on the patterns.

Will also isolate the other crafty things in there by type, so there is less "can't find it, go buy another" when it comes to sketching pencils, papers, etc. Knitting looms are in their own box.

Won't get much done for the holiday sewing projects, but will be ready to tackle new stuff.

Howdy!

Sorry to hear of your husband's health problems.

Glad to see your joyful quilt projects. I've made a similar LogCabin Star (in blue & white), one of my favorite quilts. Your gifty table toppers are so CUTE!

Best wishes, Ragmop/Sandy
