Finished the Clinic/Dogwood wallhanging!

As it turns out, shortly after I posting asking for help with the quilting I received a phone call that I needed to work there this morning. I wanted to finish the wallhanging and present it today, so last night I rushed thru the quilting and gluing all the 3D motifs in place.

I ended up doing my much-loved feathers but only across the bottom and partway up the sides. I started to cross hatch the rest of the 'sign' background area, but finished the diagonals in one direction and decided I liked it that way! The suggestions for 'simple' were spot on. I would have liked the idea of quilting dogwood blossoms and leaves, but didn't have time to design it that way. I can do feathers without too much thought. ;-)

Thanks to all my friends/quilters for the helpful input and the compliments. (It was VERY well received at the Clinic and will be displayed "where everybody can see it". Such a lovely compliment and a feel good thing for me.)

That turned out great. I love the contrast of the softness of the feathers with the diagonals. I can see why it was very well received. It's just beautiful.

Wow, Leslie. Just plain WOW. Now. I was just thinking. ( A situation that makes many throw their hands in the air and run for cover.) Let us assume that this treasure is going to be displayed in a clinic and probably touched some. Not going to be tossed in the laundry every Monday morning. Would it be a good idea to give it a light spray with Scotch Guard or something? I don't know diddly about protecting quilted cotton WHs but there must be a way. Polly

Yikes, I never thought of that! The quilts I've had displayed 'in public' were in places that were not accessible to being touched. Yeah, it's a real possibility. Thanks- I'll suggest it's hung high or something else done to protect it. Washing would NOT be good- with all the stuffing and many layers and glue??? Nope. Not a good idea to wash that one. Good on our Polly!
