No Jeanne, I wasted so much time there last night, *then* I went to bed and started reading. So much for an early night.

wasted time? how is that wasted time? if you got any ideas or inspiration it is not wasted time. and so what if it is wasted time? all you were gonna do is read anyhow, so big deal the book will still be there later to read when there isnt a fun website to go see. wasted time, your pink patootie. j.

I think I need a pie inspiration. The crib quilt for NIN underway here has:

3 kittens and 3 pairs of mittens. I seem to remember that 'you shall have no pie' is a line in that nursery rhyme. Would I want to appliqué a mice pie? Naaah, that's kind of gross. Fish pie? Not so bad. Come play with me. Polly

"J*" wasted time?

I have saved it, J - not ignoring. Yesterday was overcome with battling the most atrocious bag pattern, that I actually *bought*!, even after having looked all through the sites you told us about in the last week or two. Grrrr! (I will be writing to McCalls!). I am looking forward to a few gentle minutes looking at this site, when I have finished 'the bag'!! I may not be alone! Sometimes there just isn't time. . Please let us know what that pattern number is, Pat! That would allow others to resist the temptation to purchase it. Good luck finishing your bag.

As for me, I was away almost the entire day yesterday, so I'm woefully behind in reading the NG, let alone in following links. :S

Catnip pie? Salmon pie? Bird pie (as in 4 and 20 blackbirds?)?

OK Sandy! It is a 'See & Sew', number B4271. I thought it was McCalls, but I see that it says Butterick in small print along the side - perhaps the book I saw it in was McCalls. They are pretty much the same company, though, aren't they? . In message , Sandy writes

Pat, that's a very cute bag -- I'm sorry it's giving you such difficulty. As for McCall's and Butterick, I know Butterick and Vogue used to be sort of linked somehow, but it's entirely possible that McCall's is now the owner. At any rate, thanks to you, I will resist any temptation to get that pattern. :)

LOL. Well, I look at Geta's stuff and think "what the heck am I even bothering for?"

The actual type of pie is never mentioned. I think you could make it any way you want:

Three little kittens, They lost their mittens, And they began to cry, Oh, mother dear, We sadly fear Our mittens we have lost. What! Lost your mittens, You naughty kittens! Then you shall have no pie. Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow. You shall have no pie.

The three little kittens, They found their mittens, And they began to cry, Oh, mother dear, See here, see here, Our mittens we have found. What! Found your mittens, You darling kittens! Then you shall have some pie. Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow. You shall have some pie.

The three little kittens, Put on their mittens, And soon ate up the pie; Oh, mother dear, We greatly fear Our mittens we have soiled. What! Soiled your mittens, You naughty kittens! Then they began to sigh, Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow. They began to sigh.

The three little kittens, They washed their mittens, And hung them out to dry; Oh mother dear, Look here, look here, Our mittens we have washed. What! Washed your mittens, You're such good kittens. I smell a rat close by! Hush! Hush! Hush! Hush! Hush! Hush! Hush! I smell a rat close by.

Funny! When I was little I always pictured the kittens eating cherry pie for some reason. Maybe because the mittens got dirty.
