Giant Dahlia

Has anyone here made one? I bought a book from 1983 about it, and I'm gearing up to make one. If you've made one, please can you share pictures of it?

The quilt shop near me has a sent of the templates for sale

And they've always intrigued me. However, this shop has had the same set of templates hanging about since I moved here 15 years ago so I don't think it's a terribly popular pattern :-) Definitely not for beginners or anyone who wants a quilt in a day.

Very pretty pattern though.

I bought "Quick and Easy Giant Dahlia on the Sewing Machine" (I think) which was published in 1983. Doesn't matter that it's 30 years old, the information is still good. However, it has this fancy border on it that I am just not going to bother with to be honest. I like a nice big medallion in the middle and plain borders I think!

I bought the book for about £5, used off of Ebay, so there is great information out there. I just like the fact the templates are already in the book, and I don't have to print it out and hope they're accurate, or shell out $30 + postage + customs for plastic templates, when I'll probably make the quilt once.

I recommend the book! It has templates for a 54" medallion, and a 39" medallion. How beautiful would it be as a baby quilt?!?
