Happy Dance

Yesterday (nothing like being in good time!) I finished my first quilt in ages. It was a baby quilt for the 3rd child of some very good friends of mine from college. The baby was Christened today (good job I got it finished yesterday, then). Well, the parents were so overjoyed at this "their" 3rd quilt (with some repeat kiddie fabrics in there) that I got emotional over it. Too funny, really. I know they use the quilts, they are always out (and they say it isn't just when I'm coming to visit). In fact Mum told me today that they'd been having problems with the older two (6 and 3), because they wanted to use both for making caves and what not, and the parents wanted to have one for under the baby. Well, not he has his own :-)

Once I dig my camera out, I'll post the pic somewhere.

All I can say is, lucky baby!

It's a beautiful quilt and just so usable. Babe won't be embarrassed to use that to go to Uni with, when the time comes. Provided, of course, that he hasn't left it in the Himalayas!

That's dandy!

Please give it a little description (or a name) so we know what we're seeing; and please add more, soon! ;-D

Cheers! R/Sandy

Good point, I was in a hurry to just upload the pic, didn't look to do anything else. But now I know that it works (and is viewable publicly) I will go back and add some details.

Thanks! Hanne > Howdy!

Just finished DDiL's quillow in time and delivered it at the weekend when I had been invited to her baby scan as a part of Mothering Sunday present. Grandchild due 15th June but its sex is unknown as yet and I wasn't allowed a sneaky look! It smiled for me!

Now I have to start on the baby quilt, but don't think it will be finished until I visit them for a week in September. I have already given it a pastel coloured new born cradle quilt - the next one will be bright - very bright!

I also have the fabric ready for a hungry caterpiller quilt which will wait until its old enough for the book (DD said I had to get the fabric ready in case it was out of production in a couple of years).

DS brought me back home this afternoon and went home loaded with his old lego, playpeople, plastic railway, bricks, etc. No prizes for guessing what he will be doing tonight! I just get the impression he is looking forward to fatherhood! (Its lovely to watch).

I would start the Hungry Caterpillar quilt now. My son has loved the book (it came with a caterpillar toy as well) since he was about 1 year old, and he's 2 years 2 months now. Why wait? I never "wait until they're ready", I try it out and if she/he isn't interested I try again in a month or so. They can surprise you!

Looks as though I will be starting Caterpillar earlier then!

Just have to finish the appliqued tote bag I was coerced into doing as part of our W.I.'entry to the County Show. DH is away birdwatching in Scotland this week so in theory should have lots of time, but other committments keep popping up - e.g. this morning neighbour called to ask what time we were going - I had forgotten I had paid for a ticket to a charity lunch (how could I forget food?). I had planned a sewing day and Lunch went on for rather a long time and as I usually only have a snack for lunch I spent the rest of the afternoon sleeping with sewing in hand! Oh well, perhaps Baby will be late!

Tomorrow is supposed to be snow/sleet etc. so perhaps I will get > Sally, that quillow is sweet and lovely. Your DIL is lucky. And so's your

Snow didn't come, but 44degrees and lots of rain. DH freezing in the snow on his birdwatching holiday in Scotland.TV reports are unbelievable. Why didn't he choose last week when they had record high temperatures for March.

Last week was warm enough to sit outside > Hope you have a great sewing day tomorrow!
