hemstitching quilt sleeve

Today I used my hemstitch foot to attach a quilt sleeve and am very happy to report it worked beautifully! I just wish I'd thought of it last week when I spent a couple hours attaching sleeves to a couple of big quilts. I still have to hand sew the ends, but the time saving on the length was significant.

There wasn't much quilting in the quilt ... it may not work as well on something that is heavily quilted. A couple stitches did go through to the other side in 2 places, but it was easy to pick them out and re-do that small section. That was due to getting a little careless about watching where the foot was.

If you can, please describe the process to me. Photos would be even better. LOL -- if I'm going to ask for details might as well ask for a full tutorial.

I couldn't begin to describe it! I had to look it up in my sewing machine manual as I haven't used it very often. Sooooo....how about a video?
