How embarassing....

Well, like an idiot I selected 'get ALL headers in selected groups' in stead of just "NEW HEADERS!"

So please pardon my replies to the two-year old messages! Geesh, how embarassing.

Well, me too. I've conquered heaps of missions impossible since that tunic challenge. Today's was repairing the zipper in my very best suitcase. When it was manufactured, their sm just missed 2 or 3 inches. Thought it would be best to haul out the serious jeans needle and take care of it before my unmentionables went trailing behind me in the lobby of the Old Folks' Home. Polly

Indeed. kiripet dragged me hither and yon shopping the other day, and we were both perfectly horrified by some of the clothes on the racks for summer. There was one top style that appeared to be a pair of tape X's on strings with a band of fringe connecting them. I am having a hard time imagining that they sell enough of such things to be profitable. Or maybe I just have a higher opinion of Wal-Mart shoppers than is warranted. At least we got some new jeans for the lad. He is growing faster than weeds and it is awfully hard to keep pace with his clothes. I keep telling her to get a size larger than just right, but that is just beyond her understanding. She has overcome much of her monied background, but not the how to shop for clothes part. She is better than she was on day one here, but she has notions

Irene has saved me hours of shopping and big dollars by unearthing this old whine. I'd really forgotten that pretty (and modest) tunic and we are in for lots of graduation celebrations. I wondered back in '08 and I wonder today. Why do the corporate buyers assume that we all want to become Hootchie Mamas? Polly

...and ya notice they're starting younger and younger when they market/sell thongs for primary school age girls or some of the t-shrit sayings are totally inappropriate for a child. its not bad enough their are paedophiles all over the place, schools, church, the interent, the streets that we have to protect the children from. now they must be protected from shopping. it is insanity. i dont know what some of those makers and buyers for stores are thinking. they all need their collective heads read. females are not 'born' as hoochie mamas. let little girls be little girls as long as possible. mind boggling in the extreme. j.

More mind boggling, IMO, is the parents who have abdicated the responsibility for supervising, instructing and guiding their children. Pat, grouch in Virginia

I've been extremely frustrated myself this summer. Looking for work tops that don't expose everything. Some of the "office wear" being sold this summer is unbelievable! Who wears it?

i hear that, Maureen! i have been shopping for a new suit for work only to be dissappointed in the end. i like the 90's suits. plain jacket, well fitted but not tight, skirt. silky t-tops. you remember...the ones with the little button in the back at the neck? cant find them anywhere. i guess i'll have to get my old patterns out. amy in CNY

I love those tops! But you're right. They simply aren't any where to be found.

The Walmart stores in the Katy/Sealy TX area have cheapened almost everything. There is very little clothing selection (in the same floor space as before) and what is there is mostly junk that looks like it will fall apart as soon as you get it home. I used to buy a quite a few of my clothes there -- not anymore. Bev in TX

Maureen, I think you are talking about some of my co-workers. It's embarrassing.

I see that I somehow got logged in as my gmail -- not Yahoo ID. I'm back with my Yahoo ID.

Yes, I did that video and I pity the poor folks who cannot afford to go elsewhere -- and not only for the looks. Though I would think that one could pick up better clothes than that at garage sales for a great deal less.

My DH bought some slacks at Walmart a few years ago. He liked the Walmart ones because the fabric was thinner and therefore were cooler in the hot, humid Houston area weather. Although they looked fairly decent, they started falling apart almost as soon as we got them home. I had to fix some part of at least one pair almost every time I washed them. It would have been better if I had sat down and resewn them as soon as they came in the front door. The cloth was cheap so I've also had problems with it. Last year I finally put my foot down & made my DH get some new slacks elsewhere. I've not had to do any sewing on the new ones.

There's a horrible website (going for at least a couple years) of WalMart shoppers. It shows the most horrible examples of human 'fashion' and people who should have taken one more second before leaving to think 'if I wear the green speedos with the orange halter top, where am I going to put my cigarettes?' or perhaps 'I may be out of fresh clothes for me, but I just am not going to wear my 4-year-old daughter's tutu with my hunting boots.' Disclaimer, click the following link only at your own, extreme risk. The photos are taken by snotty people with cell phone cameras and most of them are feeling superior to people who probably have massive personal issues. It's rude, crude and something your offspring should never catch you looking at. Disclaimer over. Click and duck:
