I'm pooped!

I've been away and just returned a couple of hours ago, so I'm catching up on some posts. Some of you may remember that I used to go to Flagstaff, AZ, every July for Quilt Camp in the Pines. Sadly, it was sold a few years ago, and it died. More happily, another quilter decided to try to start a new camp in the same city, and that's where I've been this past week. :)

This one is called Celebrate! Quilts & Camp , and we had a wonderful time. :) There wasn't much advance notice, so attendance was lower than hoped, but a couple of friends of mine from Phoenix went, too. One of the classes I too was a bit disappointing, as the teacher didn't really do much teaching, but the other one was really good. Actually, that one was two on consecutive days, so my friends and I treated it as a two-day class. ;) It was taught by Julie Hocker , and we learned so much about thread painting! I have a bit of progress made toward a quilt using her ideas, though it will be a while before I can get back to it -- other commitments will keep me from doing any quilting for another few weeks. :S I'll get a couple of pics up on my blog in a little while.

If anyone here is interested in this camp (Flagstaff is lovely and cool in the summer, as it's in pine country in northern AZ), keep checking that web site; I know they'll post information for next summer as soon as they can. The quilter who is running it is adorable and full of enthusiasm, as well as being very receptive to suggestions and ideas. :)

Sounds as though you had a lovely time learning and quilting Sandy! I've just finished a 4 week online class at Quilt University.com with Dena = Crain from Kenya tutoring. We learnt her Crystal Quilt method and design. = It was really fun and I am just finishing the quilting of my piece which I = shall post online in due course. Cheers and a 'wave' from Bronnie

I did, Bronnie. :)

Oooooh, I can hardly wait to see it! I took a QU class from her (math for quilting) some time ago, and she's very good.

I met Dena a couple of times when she came to Cape Town and helped her deliver one of her lectures when she lost her voice! She's a fantastic person and not too shabby a quilter either! I highly recommend her as a teacher:-)

Cheers for now Tutu Cape Town, South Africa
