I've lost my quilting gadgets

Hi all, I am a little stressed at the moment. Some weeks ago my DH and I decided to 'redo' the loungeroom - painted, new curtains, needed new carpet but we couldn't afford that so we put carpet tiles down - they're OK, but plush carpet would have been better.

Anyhow, we emptied the room of everything, including my quilting goodies - so I thought. We sorted through some other stuff we didn't need and DH gathered them up and took them to an op.shop (thrift store).

Well I got the urge to quilt after finishing the room and asked where he put my bag with my roller cutters, scissors, pins, small rulers, pencils etc. (my pride and joys) and he said "I didn't touch it". We then proceeded to search the house but to no avail. After many tears on my behalf and purchasing a really really cheap roller cutter which is horrible, I ordered a new one last Saturday, can't wait for it to come.

Today, Monday pm, DH says to me "You know, I do kind of remember your bag and I think I took it to the op.shop/thrift shop". More tears and a rush down to the shop but they said they never received it - well I can imagine all the stuff that goes through there in one day, how could they remember something of a couple of weeks ago. It looks like some lucky person has a lovely bag full of quilting gadgets.

I am now going to have a spending spree for more gadgets and he better not say a word.

Nearly feeling happy again.

Oh Di!

Poor you! I can't imagine how I'd survive a loss like that! I hope you manage to replace all the lost items with far better ones and can I suggest that you have a special labelled container to keep the new ones in? Hopefully, it'll never happen again.

Sending warmest commiserations,

Oh Di, when you said you lost them I thought you ment that they were in a 'safe' place not that they were actually gone from the house. Maybe the girls can give you early Christmas and bithday presents.

When we moved here 13 years ago, a plastic bin with some of my quilting treasures and a hatbox that had belonged to my late father went missing. It's really upsetting, I know. But now that you know your things are truly gone, you can have some fun shopping for exactly the right replacements. Don't settle for what you can get quickly, either! ;)

Howdy!

Address, please.

You need more than just "replacements"; you need some new treasures: I've just cleaned out my pyramid cabinet where many supplies are housed.

are unused items that I know will be happy to find a new home. And, I suspect, you need a little something to help cushion the shockof losing your own treasures. Yes, I'm aware that you are many miles away, Di; I haven't sent apkg to AU in a lonnnnnng time. Happy to share the goodies. Ragmop/Sandy

Di,

Don't give up hope - I had had a small take along project due to be a gift for my DGS in the boot of my car and then couldn't find it anywhere, like you just after DH had dropped some stuff off at the charity shop. I phoned the shop and also called in to talk to them with no luck.

However my project eventually turned up at home under a load of coats that had also been in the car and the whole lot had come into the house together. I was SO happy as it wasn't just the project but the tools & scissors with it that were also special to me.

Fingers crossed that you stuff turns up at an unexpected moment for you.

Good afternoon (in Aust) to all:

Thank you for your lovely messages - it makes me feel stressed I can assure you.

I have started to make a list of the gadgets I think I need to replace apart from the obvious ones. My DH said to replace what I want - little does he know that I have my list.

Roberta, fortunately I still have my mats - very big down to 1ft. square which fitted into my bag but wasn't in it.

Dee, I have already started my Christmas wish list with DH and the girls.

Sandy F, Slowly but surely I will get around to replacing them all.

Bobbie, I have begun looking around for the better quality gadgets and do intend to get a couple.

Sandy E, thank you so much for your generous offer.

Lizzy, I am still praying that someone reads my name and phone number and gets a 'guilty' conscience and rings me - but I wont hold my breath.

I'm looking forward to the shopping.

Cheers, Di
