There's a quilt ad in McCall's October '06 that looked very interesting. The quilt they show (and I can't figure out how to show you) is only square in a square with alternating 4 patches. The fabric looked wonderful and claims to be organically dyed and very soft. I thought it would be perfect for preemie quilts so I pursued where it was available and how costly it might be. First I looked over at Big Horn. They have the fabric and the price isn't awful - something like $ 7.50 per yard. The collection I was checking into is 'Nature's Palette' by Avlyn. Bless Big Horn's heart, someone there was kind enough to mention in the fabric description: hand wash, cold water, ph neutral detergent. That's a gentler life than I expect any of my quilts to hope for. How nice it was of them to warn me before I bought any of that lovely collection. I guess I'm off the 'use up your stash' wagon. I fell in love with so many other Avlyn collections that are just 'knock your socks off' precious. No problem. I just had a pedicure. Polly
