Jacobs Ladder Quilt

This is my next quilt and you can find the pattern at www.quilterscac he.com Think they have more than one size but mine is a 12 inch blocks. I am cons idering putting sashing between blocks because those half squares get prett y bulky in the seams. I also plan on having an outer border and the sashin g makes the inner border. This is kind of an old fashion pattern, guessing that was why I was attracted to it. I am not much for modern type quilts but have done a couple quickie ones. Hope you all will try this one. If you have a picture of this one, please post it for everyone to see. Sandy$

There are lots of pages about making a jacob's ladder quilt block, but here is the pattern from quilterscache:

A jacob's ladder appears to just be some 4-square (I hope I have that name right) and half-suare-triangle pieces arranged to make the jacobs ladder block.

The 4-square can be strip piced it looks like, though I suppose you could make all the 4-square blocks individually if you wanted.

I think the half square triangles could be made individually as well, but, but here are some cool videos of how to mass-produce half-suare triangles:

The possibilities with this pattern is enormous - I love the simplicity and have materials already in mind. Thanks for posting.

Hello Brian, Yes, this is the quilt I am making but I made my half squares different ly than what they show. Make 8 at one time. I used 2 different materials bu t in same color range for the blocks. I really think it needs sashing but I don't want to use the regular 2 1/2 inch but a little smaller, possibly 2 inch. Haven't decided yet. Still have 7 more blocks to make yet. Then th e fun begins. Thank you Brian for coming again to help me here. Maybe one of these d ays I will be brave enough to try this myself. Sandy$
