Since the topic of HUG quilts is in a couple of threads -- I thought I would let folks know that everyone here is welcome to become a member of the HUG list.
To become a member -- just email me with your name and email address. That's all you have to do.
Then -- when a HUG quilt (or other HUG project) is requested -- you will receive an email message giving you the specifics. You are NEVER obligated to participate. If you want to -- you do. If you don't want to -- or can't at that time... you don't.
HUG blocks are usually 6 1/2 or 12 1/2" unfinished. They can be as simple as a square of fabric or a 9 patch to a very elaborate paper-pieced star or appliquéd block. Nobody compares. Nobody critiques. You do what you wish to do to the best of your ability.
Most times the blocks are for RCTQ members but not always. Sometimes an RCTQ member needs to HUG a family member or friend but can't get a quilt done on her own in a timely manner and asks for help. Again -- you don't have to if you prefer not to. Just hit DELETE on that message.
The only request is that you do everything you can to make sure your block is AT LEAST the size requested. This will help keep our HUGGER sane as the quilt top is assembled.
Many HUGGERS (aka block makers) choose to tuck a dollar or two in with their block (again -- strictly optional). But when someone volunteers to assemble or quilt the hug -- they also become "responsible" for the extra fabric needed for the top, the backing, the binding and the batting. As we all know - that can take a bite out of almost anyone's budget so any help is always greatly appreciated.
So if you want to be notified of HUGS when they are requested.... just hit REPLY to this message -- remove the NO SPAM from my address and let me know. I will happily add you to the list.
