Just a friendly reminder..

My computer crashed a few days ago and for a while I thought I might have lost everything on my hard drive. Fortunately I was able to recover but it was pretty nerve wracking for a while! If I had done my backups like I kept meaning to do it would have been a LOT less stressful. So don't let it happen to you!!!

A suggestion for those that "forget" to do backups..... DH subscribed me to a site that does automatic, off site back ups regularly. We did this before switching out the dying computer. When we got the new computer up and running, all I had to do was go to the site, log in and start the download of all my files. Yes I still had/have to load programs but all the other stuff did its thing in the background. You can load specific files or all files. This service is not terribly expensive, is automatic and regular (I think ours backs up daily). The one we use is Carbonite.

Another reminder- 3.5 years ago dear Polly told us her sister had a dryer fire and reminded us to pull our our clothes dryers and clean out the lint from the cabinet and the exhaust hose. I cleaned mine about a month ago. (I remember when she told us cuz I was recovering from a hip replacement and Pat on her green and Polly got after me for doing it by myself! LOL)

Funny you should mention that, Leslie. I was thinking today that it was time to pull out the dryer and get serious about the fire hazard and to mention it to you all. We see every Christmas time and bitter weather time that families are having fires. Pulling out the dryer is CERTAINLY NOT something we want anybody with a new hip replacement to attempt - but it surely is really, really necessary and important. IF you can get outside to the clothes dryer vent flappy thing, it probably needs a little rootling too. Polly
