Laptop case pattern?

Has anybody seen a pattern for a laptop case? The ones they have at Office Depot START at $40, and I was thinking I could MAKE one for less and it would be pretty too.

It's might be easier to imagine a box just big enough to hold your laptop snuggly and make a quilted carry bag that size with handles/shoulder straps and a velcro flap closing.

Cool idea - hope you post pics of whatever you make.

No. But take your measuring tape to a store that sells them and draft your own pattern. Most cases have pockets for disks, accessories, etc. You could custom-build whatever pockets you need. Cool! Roberta in D

Don't forget to figure in lots of padding to cushion those bumps. Would a thin foam be better than batting? Anytime I start out thinking I will save money by making something it finishes costing me more.

What a good idea! :) I think there was a pattern for one in Keepsake Quilting's catalog at one time; I almost bought it, but it wasn't large enough for my laptop. If you find one, do let us know where and how it works out for you. :)

There are patterns in the pattern books (like at JoAnn's) for laptop cases. There is also a Lazy Girls pattern, the City Bag, that could be modified if needed to use for a laptop. Just be sure to check the size and make the bag larger, but not too large. You may want to have some straps to secure it in place too.
