The local quilt shop where I taught before Mom came to live with us is for sale. The owner is retiring. Everyone was expecting the daughter-in-law of the owner to take over but she has decided this isn't the time in her life for such an adventure. Her daughter is 3
1/2 and she is hoping to have another child. She has her pattern company and designs fabric so will continue to be a part of the quilt industry, just not tied to a store. The Quilt Merchant was a Top Ten store several years ago. Originally it was only 1800's reproduction fabrics but expanded adding Kaffe, Batiks and other bright fabrics in a second store front. Check their website:
If any of you have ever dreamed of owning a store this is your opportunity! I would love to have you move to town and take over. Promise I will support you as much as possible.
Seriously I do hope that someone will purchase the store and keep it in the area. It is only ten minutes from my house. There are other stores within a 30 minute drive but they aren't as friendly. This is the type of place you can always drop in for a visit and feel welcome. Susan
