Looking for Kettle Cloth

I have recently met a lady that had a lung removed in Dec. 06 & lost her husband in that same time frame. She must use oxygen & is in Pulmonary rehab where I met her. She has an awful lot of free time in her new schedule & I suggested quilting to her. She has a quilt top in the process but needs about 2 yards of Persimmon & 2 yds of Creme colored kettlecloth to complete it. I can't seem to find it in any of the fabric stores or websites & just wondered if one of you ladies might have some in your stash? Sure would appreciate your checking. She is a fantastic lady and could use something to get her going in her hobby so she can have something to think about other than losing her hubby & her health problems. Please email me privately. Thanks, snipped-for-privacy@mchsi.com

I haven't seen kettle cloth is at least 20 years. I used to use it to make summer skirts and dresses.

It's been a long time and I may remember incorrectly, but isn't kettle cloth like a stout, heavy weight cotton? The Kona solids are a meaty cotton fabric which might work well with her fabrics and the Kona comes in a rainbow of colors. Just a thought..... Good luck in your search!

Howdy!

Look at some of the heavy muslins; kettlecloth has/had those small rough spots or bumps of fabric that gives/gave it a bit more homespun feel. It was often made of a cotton/poly mix, stuff lasted forever (until I gave away the peasant-style blouse Mom made me in Jr. High ); too warm for me. But very stylish.

Good luck! Happy Hunting!

TSWLTH (Jo-Anns) used to carry it (in natural color - and a few other colors.) If you'd like, I'll check the next time I head in there. - or you could check online. ME-Judy

I don't know if it will help, but the fabric is also known as weaver's cloth. I found a few places that sell it, but only in white or khaki. Check these:
