Machine embroidery stabilizer problem

Hi,

Ok, I had a brain warp momeent. I had my small hoop already fixed with the paper sticky stabalizer. It's the kind you hoop it then you make a little slash and pull the top layer of paper of and you lay what ever you can't hoop on there and embroider it. I had it ready to monogram my hubbies shirt sleve. Well, I had know iedea where he left his shirt so I had a realy thin vintage looking dich towel. I though sinnce it is already hooped why waste the stuff. I spread the cloth over the sticky part. It stuck really nice. I embroidered the whole piece. The problem came when I tried to get the sticky stuff to release from the back of the cloth. I pulled, cut, snipped, soaked, and it wont come off the back. HELP !!! I should have taken the time and used the right stabilizer and change it on the hoop. I learned my leason. What else is that sticky stuff used for and how does it normally work and come off.

Is it the kind that has to be moistened for it to release? Hope this helps.

Maybe a warm iron on the back of the stabilizer (I'm assuming there is a paper back) might losen the glue enough to separate it from the cloth. Then you'll have to deal with whatever residue might remain.

Good luck!

PS - What kind of embroidery machine do you have?

The original post didn't show up - what brand of stabilizer is it? It obviously didn't work as intended! I'd contact the maker of the stabilizer and put the question to them for a response and an explanation before trying iron heat, water or other possible method which might cause more harm than good. jennellh
