March and April journal quilts

I know it's nearly the end of April, but here is my March journal quilt:

I'm still not entirely happy with the FMQ - but I found it quite tricky to do it on such a small piece of work.

April is well under way - it just needs me to do the quilting and choose a binding.

also can't decide which way up it should be. It has to be in portrait orientation (i.e. tall) but I can't decide whether it should have the green or the yellow at the top. Do you have any preference? Lizzy

I like the green at the top. I don't know why; it just seemed more visually pleasing to me.

March's quilt is just great - your quilting definitely made me feel the winds of March!

Thanks Louise, that quilting got taken out a couple of times before I could live with it. I still need to get it smoother, but finding time to practice isn't always easy.

Great March quilt. As for the Convergence... Yellow at top (think sun) Green at bottom (think grass). much more cheerful than the other way round.

Great little quilts.

I like the green at the bottom. Can't really thing why, except that I couldn't get the natural world out of my mind, and there, the ground is green (with perhaps some water) and sky is blue and yellow (when sunny). . In message , Lizzy Taylor writes

My thoughts exactly. I see the green as grass. Gen

Oooooh, darling little quilts! I can't imagine working on such small ones. March is wonderful and you get the feel of the wind blowing from your stitching. It looks like Aprils is split with half liking yellow on top and half liking the green...please post your final choice when it's done, would you? Donna

It is a good way of trying new techniques or playing with design elements, without too much expenditure of time or money.

Thanks - that was what I was trying for, but usually I find it quite hard to get the effect out of my head and onto the fabric.

Thank you every one for your comments and opinions on this project. In the end I went for green at the top, because I also preferred the white-ish fabric at the top and the grey at the bottom. Finished item is here:
