rofl, i'm heading to bed now after a very long day. too much food and drink but a good day nonetheless. not many presents around here. we all have what we need and enough of what we want. no point in breaking the bank just to have 'stuff'. tho i do love the yard of really pretty fabric i drooled over online not long ago and dd had no way of knowing that...just coincidence she picked it out for me. also another game(i've always loved games and puzzles) called blockus trigon. then i found it can also be played online...another way to keep me amused and out of trouble here and elsewhere when there is no one around here to play it with. dd's b/f's sister and her dd came round. the first time i've met any of his family. lovely sister and dd. seems to be a lucky family trait to have the most beautiful dark curly hair too. anywho, i'm off to bed. hope those just rising or soon to rise or who are well into their xmas day enjoy it heaps. love, hugz and kissez all around, j.

Well, I'm up early - 5:00 am - to get the turkey in the oven. Even with all my rattling around in here no one else is up yet. We have 3 of our adult children home for the holiday. One with a long time girlfriend. I'd forgotton how busy life feels with kids in the house! Doesn't seem to change much even when they are grown up. No little ones to share the excitement of Santa with this year. Although we may get to share one granddaughters first Christmas via web cam shortly. She is only 4 months old so I don't expect she'll really care too much.

Hope you are all having, or have already had, a wonderful Christmas!

From 8,500 gators in the Swamp (who are all decked out in feathered finery), we send Merry Christmas best wishes. There are thousands of Canadian guest geese spending their holidays here and it is quite a show. They stand, quite happily atop the backs of the gators and enjoy the warmth and camaraderie. Sometimes there's a raucous squabble about who gets to stand where among the geese. Sometimes one of them decides that playing Musical Gators would be fun. They all 'lift off', circle and choose a new gator before the music stops. Merry Christmas, y'all. Wonder what the city folks are doing? Polly

Here in Minnesota, it's not too cold (about 30 degrees F -- not cold for Minnesota in December) and there is snow on the ground. It's a quiet holiday for DH and me, as the kids and grandkids aren't coming until tomorrow. They all spent Christmas Eve with the other grandparents and we figured we'd give them a day at home to rest, relax, and recover before have our get-together. DH and I volunteered for a 3 hour shift at the local Ronald McDonald House yesterday afternoon and then went to the

10 pm service at church. I may spend this afternoon sewing doll clothes for the granddaughters -- an unplanned, extra gift.

Merry Christmas to all from the Lone Star State. It is supposed to be in the 60's here today. DH & I are spending a quiet day since it is just the two of us. We bought some nice crackers, 3 or 4 different kinds of cheese, and other goodies we don't usually indulge in. We plan on just grazing all day. I might do a little sewing. I need to either do it, or put it up until after the holidays. Our house cleaners are coming tomorrow, and I try to have the sewing room picked up so they can vacuum and dust in there. I hope everyone enjoys their day.

And to all- have a wonderful, safe, happy day filled with love and joy!

I'm driving to see my son, his wife and the two granddarlings for our gift exchange and an early Christmas dinner so I can be home before dark or thereabouts (65 up-and-down, curvy miles each way- nothing is close to me without a loonnngggg drive!). The pies turned out fine- in case you wondered- but the Rome apples cooked pretty much to a mush. Do NOT trust the man in the produce department at WalMart to advise you on what type of apples to buy for a pie! But it tastes really good. I had extra apples sliced, so I made a little apple crisp for myself. ;-)

When I get home, if I can still move after eating the BIG meal, I'll start back on my mom's surgery/chemo comfort quilt. The top is done but for the buttonhole stitching around the appliques. I never found the morning glory pattern I was thinking for, so I just designed my own. It's looking pretty good!

Hugs to all and sloppy doggy breath kisses from my HairyButt Gang (who each had a slice of Christmas ham with their once a day morning meal)-

This city folk just sent her family off to the big Christmas get together with DH's family about 2 hours from here. I'm at home with drippy eyes and nose after being up most of the night. No meds would stop it and I just couldn't go in good conscience with two babies and 17 other adults there. Typhoid Mary, I'm not. On the other hand, I might just get in the car to drive to the airport to check for DS's bag that hasn't yet arrived from Sunday night. That might be a good use of my time. And if I was successful, that would be a good present! Going to get dressed now.

Lesie, I have to say that 6600 makes really wonderful buttonhole type applique. I confess when it all comes down that is the one thing I really didn't have in a machine and the 6600 serves really well there. Next time go granny smith with a rome or two for the juice. A blend works perfect here. That said, I haven't met an apple pie I didn't like. ; )

Christmas is drawing to a close here in cold but sunny Spain. It was not a bad Christmas. I even managed to hold a needle and do a bit of stitching!

For those still celebrating, have a great time. For those already recuperating, happy digestion!

Wishing all of you a wonderful Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year as we are leaving at 4:00 in the morning for vacation and I won't be back until early next year. May 2008 be a blessed year for all of us.

Love in Stitches,

Coleen (who should be packing but be assured that the stitching bag will be packed long before I get around to packing the suitcase full of clothes, lol)

Thanks for all the US greetings, folks.

Heartiest good wishes from the UK - now dark. Christmas meal has been enjoyed, and a sleepy afternoon watching a soppy film! after the Queen's Christmas speech. Just us, and quiet, but very nice.

Hope you all have a wonderful day; and let's hope 2008 brings much of what we all need - peace and goodwill.

The picture below is one my DH took while he was on a country walk last week - he made it into a Christmas greetings card on 'Photoshop'! He is enjoying playing with the 'tools' >g< That is real hoar frost, though!
