Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival

Going to fly down to Virginia with a friend and will be staying in Hampton, VA. Looking for suggestions for places we should go.

Quilt shops Restaurants Places to visit If the weather is warm - some nice easy hikes.

We will be there Wednesday through Tuesday and will have a car.

Used to be my stomping ground - now I just visit about once a year!

LQS that you MUST visit:

Nancy's Calico Patch

(if you don't like the website, don't be fooled) Bella Fabrics
formatting link
(recently moved to the large corner store)

Restaurants: There is a Mexican a few shops down from Bella Fabrics, not a fancy restaurant, but good, honest mexican food - we stop there for lunch before or after the fabric shop.

On the Peninsula, there is County Grill

they do great barbecue. Usually go for lunch, but in the evening it can get really busy.

Also, there is Bonefish on Oyster Point

They do have a bit other than fish, and I gather it is a chain, but I never went before this past Christmas and LOVED it. They have specials on some weeknights.

Hiking/Sites: There is a nice paved trail around the park at Mariners' Museum

formatting link
(close to Nancy's BTW) Hampton Air & Space Center
formatting link
(across the road and down a block is parts of old town with new shops etc, not sure how they are doing) The museum is great, unless you have been to the bigger ones like in DC a bunch of times. Buckroe Beach

is a nice place to just go for a stroll - probably quiet this time of year. And of course, there is Williamsburg (the town and the outlets (!)), Jamestown and Yorktown. Either one of these could fill a whole day, if you are so inclined, but particularly for Williamsburg, it is possible to drive close to the center, park up, go for a walk around Colonial Williamsburg, visit their stores, and a few other stores, stop for a meal or coffee, and leave again. You can always come back to be a tourist some other time (or not, but Williamsburg is going nowhere :-))

Now, if you believe that I don't love this place, you must have not read the entire message :-) Don't forget to just enjoy the show!
