Moving across the pond

Having got all of our ducks in a row, been approved by USCIS and informed both our employees I can now, finally, tell you all that my DH & I together with our 2 sons are moving to State College PA this summer

DH has a new job with a company in the same field and is now officially an "Alien of Extraordinary Ability". We are all looking forward to a new chapter in our lives and as, under our visa classification, I am not allowed to work I will have more time for quilting & sewing!

The menfolk should be moving late July/early August and I will be joining them a month or two later after seeing MIL through some vital surgery.

Woohoo!

Juno,

No offence taken - as a diminutive of my given name it is only a preference :-)

So happy you are crossing the pond. I lived in State College for 6-7 years (first half + of the 90's). It is a great place to be. There is a quilt guild that meets out in Boalsburg (although I didn't start quilting until after I moved away. I'm not sure how many quiltshops there are nearby -- but you are only a couple of hours from Amish country (Lancaster PA area).

It really is a nice "small" town -- right in the center of Happy Valley!

How exciting! It is not unusual that you are not allowed to work. It works the same way for those of us going the other way. I work here in France wi th a work visa, but in January when we move to Germany I can not work. Just like you I plan to enjoy the time not working! I see a lot of sewing in my future.

How long will you be in the US?
