My Fun Find-- Not OT

I had to clean the garage after 14 years yesterday since I have to have cupboards moved tomorrow to make way for new garage doors (my old ones fell on my car a couple of weeks ago so now it is time to change). I was going through 1 of the rubber maid containers that I had not opened in several eons and what should I find??????? OLD, I mean really OLD, beautiful, wonderful, Hankies!!! I called Mom to see if they could have been my grandmother's or if she had any idea where they come from. They may be Nonnie's, she won't know for sure until the next time she comes over. When I mentioned using them in a hankie quilt (see this is very much on topic), she informed me she has 4 very old ones in her drawer and would give them to me too!!!

Wow! Lucky you! This sort of thing only happens to me with books I haven't read for decades. Having forgotten everything, they are just as much fun to read again. Roberta in D

Fantastic! Be sure to post a pic during various stages. It would be fun to see the hankies.

Hi Debbi, Fantastic!!! Old hankies are so incredibly beautiful. I have a box full that were my grandma's, and I've even go so far as to buy a couple of books on how to turn them into beautiful objects, but that's as far as I've gotten. I'd really love to see how things go with yours.....

Debbi, what a find. Um, if you can't figure out what to do with them, then just send those beauties over to me and I'd be glad to take the whole thing off your hands.

Oh! Lucky you!! I started collecting pretty hankies back when I was a pre-teen. My step-grandmother gave me a couple of hers, and I was so enthralled with the handmade lace and embroidery, that I kept an eye out for pretty hankies ever since. Most are from friends and family and have great memories. I bought a few when I visited a cousin in a different city. She took me to a great antique shop, and I was really hooked from then on!

Most are inexpensive -- averaging $10 a piece, but I admit I've shelled out a bit more than that for a really spectacular one!

Have fun with them!
