my sister's quilt..progress and some pics

I'm finally making some progress on my sister's quilt after having some technical problems with my darn darning foot.

Just a little while ago I was quilting away when I realized I was quilting in the wrong space. arghhh! I had made a sort of plain area for the quilt label in one of the borders and that's where I was and not where I was supposed to be in the block. I went ahead and did my label in part of that space and think it will be just find once I add some more flowers or leaves or something there. And then went to the space above that in the block put some quilting there. I'm not sure what to put in the space under the flower basket so please feel free to take a look and let me know what you think.

I need to finish up the quilting in 3 or 4 blocks, get the sashing quilted, the binding done, get it washed and dried and in the mail. All advice is more than welcome.

Thanks, Joanna. The flannel for the backing on this is especially nice and came through the washer and dryer with very little lint and no pilling. Hooray!!! I'm hoping to have this finished this weekend and in the mail Monday.

Thank you and what a perfect idea. Butterflies and bugs and I think I even have a stencil somewhere of a frog...he could represent all the toads my sis had to kiss before she found her hero.

Judie - your quilt is so pretty! What a nice gift :)

I smiled when I saw your signature - Penfield! I graduated from Nazareth College just down the road...a while back ;)

you could do some writing along a border or thru the sashing or anywhere really. makes it such fun when the writing is found and read. something funny in this case might be just the right touch. i like what you said about the toads, lol. i'm sure your Sis would also get a kick out of it. laughter is the best medicine so i'm told. you're really kick'n butt on this quilt, well done. now stop read'n this and get your skates on girl. j.

Just gorgeous, Judie. The colors are lovely and the quilt looks so inviting and the meandering hearts - what a great touch!!

I've always wanted to make a sampler quilt and you have given me some inspiration!

yeegads and little fishes! I got up bright and early, got my skates on and headed on down to the basement for some solid quilting time. I managed to do a really cool sort of celtic looking design on the LeMoyne str and then strted putting some blue markings on the white background corners......and noticed the blue marker I'm using is *not* the mark-b-gone marker but one of the regular Crayola markers. Supposed to be washable and I have used them before but just to be sure I dabbed it with a damp cloth and....no joy....it just got bigger and darker. Then took it to the sink and dipped just that part and it was still there. Tried Tide, still there. Finally used some Oxy and it faded and went away. The quilt is now in the dryer. I think I may have put my skates on backwards but not to worry since I have all weekend.

No advice from here, Judie! It's looking great! I think your label looks wonderful, too -- I'd never have guessed you didn't mean it to look any other way. :)

Keep plugging away Judie. The quilting is wonderful. You best watch those markers though. I used the crayola washables on one quilt that I had a bit of a fuss removing them from but like you I did get the marks out.

Underneath a toad you could write "Kiss Me!" It would be unexpected and cute. Barbara in FL
