Need Quilting Help.

How are you all nice quilters? I need some help for borders on a quilt I'm making for my cousin. She chose the colors but I chose the pattern, which is a two color snowball, bright red and beige. The blocks are 8" finished. What I need to know is what color should I use for the first one and how wide? She wants 4 borders. I know there are no other places I can ask for good answers. Thank you so much to everyone who will help me. Dixie. maribord at webtv dot net

How about starting with a white or off-white 2" border? Then you can alternate the red and the beige for the other three borders and binding. I'm thinking the white, then red, beige, red...

The white or off-white, being brighter than the beige, will also give the quilt a little "spark..."

got pictures? What colors go where in the snowballs? Are you allowed to add accent colors? Are your red and beige prints or solids? If prints, I'd pick some dark color from the design, maybe black, and use that to make a narrow inner border about an inch wide. Otherwise the borders just feel a bit jumbled IMO. Then you can add more borders. My own preference is for narrower borders, probably not more than about 3". I'd also probably piece one of the middle borders, maybe a round of half-square triangle squares the same size as the snowball corners. Roberta in D
