Need your input.....

Hi Fellow quilters. My quilting class is making lap quilts for the returning wounded soldiers. My teacher was asking if any one had ideas for labels. I piped up & said "I have a lable maker" Now I need to ask you all what to write upon these lables, how to word them. She needs 10. HELP!!!!! PLEASE!!!

This is the text I used on my quilt of valor label:

"This quilt has been created and given in appreciation of the service you have provided to your country. May it bring you the comfort, warmth and security that the many men and women of the US Armed Forces provide citizens such as myself through your service. Please know that the time you have given your country, and the sacrifices you have made to do so are greatly appreciated my family and by me."

You may need to modify it -- but feel free to use any part of it if you would like.

"Made with love and healing thoughts for one who served their country by (name of group) (date)"

I saw something similar on a quilt made for a wounded WWII soldier.

Thanks so very much. I'll take these suggestions to the class. I think they are very beautiful!

Last month a group of us made lap quilts for Veterans in the Veteran Hospital. Each small group signed its own quilt as preferred. (We used pens on a light square.) ONe wrote, "We appreciate your contributions and sacrifices for the country." My group signed a cream rail fence log, on the front of the quilt. We wrote: "G_d Bless You and G_d Bless America" I drew a heart, and we all signed our first name, last initial. Also, "Sept. 2006" Short and sweet works for us. Just do what comes from *your* heart. (Thanks for taking care of the troops!) Hugs, PAT

Make them simple and straight forward. Something like:

Thank you for serving our country.

(group name) city, state 2006
